Position Title: Import Freight ForwarderDepartment: Operations / LogisticsReports To: Operations Manager / Logistics ManagerJob SummaryThe Import Freight Forwarder is responsible for coordinating and managing international import shipments via air and ocean freight. This role ensures shipments move efficiently from origin to final destination while complying with all customs regulations, documentation requirements, and company procedures. The Import Freight Forwarder communicates with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and customers to provide smooth and timely cargo movement.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and manage international import shipments by air and ocean freightTrack and monitor shipments from origin to final deliveryPrepare and review import documentation including bills of lading, airway bills, commercial invoices, and packing listsCommunicate with overseas agents, carriers, trucking companies, and warehousesEnsure compliance with U.S. customs regulations and import requirementsCoordinate customs clearance with customs brokersProvide shipment updates and excellent customer service to clientsArrange delivery appointments and inland transportationResolve shipment delays, discrepancies, or documentation issuesMaintain accurate shipment records and update internal systemsVerify freight charges, invoices, and billing informationWork closely with sales and operations teams to ensure customer satisfactionRequired QualificationsExperience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international shippingKnowledge of air freight and ocean import proceduresUnderstanding of import documentation and customs processesStrong communication and customer service skillsQuoting air, ocean, and intermodal shipments in coordination with Network AgentsAbility to manage multiple shipments and deadlinesProficiency in logistics software, email, and Microsoft OfficeStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilitiesPreferred Qualifications2+ years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics operationsKnowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import complianceExperience working with international agents and carriersBook of business preferredFamiliarity with freight management or ERP systemsKey SkillsLogistics coordinationInternational shipping knowledgeDocumentation managementTime management and organizationCustomer communicationProblem solving and multitasking
