AV System Programmer Job Description

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
The purpose of the Audio-Visual System Programmer position is to provide control system programming support for a variety of audio visual (AV) and video teleconferencing (VTC) projects. Maintain responsibility for programming from scratch and updating AMX control system source code using the manufacturer provided programming tools, including NetLinx Studio, SIMPL Windows and System Builder. Create touch panel interfaces using the AMX/CRESTRON programming tools, including TPDesign 4. Maintain knowledge of current manufacturers' hardware and software product lines, including AMX. Perform testing and debugging of programming code. Participate in site installations and end-user training on using the touch panel system. Qualified candidates will possess a strong knowledge and work experience dealing with various commercial AV control systems such as; Crestron, AMX, Extron, BiAmp, Polycom, Tandberg, etc.
*Responsibilities:*
* Design and construct AMX/CRESTRON graphic screen layouts based upon engineering designs, build to and customer requirements. Participate in process of prototype build-out, testing and release.
* Troubleshoot new and legacy systems, hardware cabling and components.
* Integrate third-party hardware/software solutions.
* Create, execute and revise project plans to meet changing needs.
* Ensure project documents are complete and stored appropriately.
* Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
* Duties include interpreting requirements and block diagrams, implementing AMX/CRESTRON User Interfaces (touch panels) and writing AMX/CRESTRON control code to control various types of equipment.
* Candidate must be able to write and run test plans and integrate code with end user equipment.
* In addition to writing new code based on requirements, applicant must also maintain existing code.

*Education, Certifications and/or Work Experience Requirements:*
* BS degree with 3 years’ experience, or 7 years with an AA degree, or 11 years’ experience with no degree.
* 3+ years of professional audio-visual technology experience.
* 3+ years programming experience in AMX/CRESTRON control system source code and touch panel interface with deep working knowledge of Polycom, Tandberg, Clear One, Biamp, Lutron, Plasmas and Projectors, AMX/Crestron AV gear, and others.
* AMX Programmer 1 Certification and 2 - 4 years of AMX coding experience. AMX Programmer II certification is highly desirable.
* Strong background in structured programming and/or object-oriented programming is required.
This includes demonstrated use of procedures, logic structures and good commentary.
* Familiarity with Visual Source Safe and good CM practices is a plus.
* Qualified candidate will have 2-4 years of AMX coding experience with an AMX Programmer I certification (preferred to have AMX Programmer II).
* InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) Certification.
(3-5 years of previous Audio / Visual experience may be substituted for education. Training available for qualified candidate)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
