Electrical Preconstruction Manager
Overview
In this Electrical Preconstruction Manager role at AECOM Hunt, you help shape large-scale, complex projects by defining scope, schedule, cost, and constructability for electrical systems. You partner with estimators, design teams, owners, and trades to craft budgets, phased schedules, and procurement strategies that enable smooth project delivery. You assess constructability, mitigate site constraints, and support value engineering for athletic, healthcare, aviation, and education projects. This position offers the chance to influence critical infrastructure programs and work across multidisciplinary teams in a global firm with a strong project backbone.

ResponsibilitiesParticipate in electrical preconstruction planning across multiple large projects from bid to early mobilizationDevelop initial and phased master schedules (critical path, milestones, look-ahead) incorporating design, procurement lead times, long-lead items, logistics, and commissioningCreate and validate conceptual and detailed cost plans with estimators; identify drivers and opportunities for VEAssess constructability and develop mitigation plans for site constraints, phasing, MEP coordination, and specialized systemsCreate procurement strategies for long-lead and electrical packages; coordinate prequalification and scope definition for tradesPrepare logistics and sequencing plans addressing site access, laydown, MEP routing, and shutdownsPrepare and present preconstruction reports and recommendations to senior leadership and ownersSupport value-engineering efforts and electrical constructability coordination to enable project success
Key requirementsBS Engineering/Construction Management and 6 years of relevant construction experience or equivalent6 years of preconstruction, planning, or project engineering experience on large commercial/institutional projects with significant electrical scopeDemonstrated ability to develop CPM schedules (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and electrical cost modelsStrong understanding of electrical systems (medium/high-voltage, switchgear, transformers, UPS, lighting, BAS, fire/security systems)Experience with long-lead electrical procurement and specialty scope definition; familiarity with utility coordinationExperience with electrical one-line diagrams, load calculations, fault studies, and commissioning/acceptance testingExcellent written and verbal communication; ability to present electrical strategies to owners and executivesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills; risk identification and mitigation for electrical systemsProficiency with MS Office; experience with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and electrical modeling/estimating softwarevision and strategic thinkingclear communicationcollaboration across multidisciplinary teamsPrimavera P6Microsoft ProjectRevit
