Job Title: Contract-to-Hire Accountant (Construction Industry)Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a growing construction company. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, with a strong focus on job costing, project accounting, and financial accuracy. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience working within the construction or project-based industry.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenanceSupport job costing and project tracking, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overheadAssist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processesPrepare and analyze financial reports, including project profitability and cost variance reportsCollaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, costs, and billing progressProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable as neededAssist with payroll entries and job cost allocationsEnsure compliance with company policies and accounting standardsSupport audits and provide documentation as requestedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2+ years of accounting experience (construction or project-based accounting preferred)Strong understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion accountingExperience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesPreferred QualificationsExperience in the construction industry or working with subcontractors and project billingQuickBooks experience is a huge plusFamiliarity with AIA billing and lien waiversCPA or CPA-track is a plusWhy This OpportunityContract-to-hire role with long-term potentialOpportunity to work with a growing and stable construction companyHands-on exposure to project accounting and financial operationsCollaborative and fast-paced team environmentEmployment TypeContract-to-Hire (with strong potential for permanent placement based on performance and business needs)
