Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to enhance participants' social, emotional and physical skills to successfully navigate life experiences. Our fun, interactive lessons meet the unique needs of participants of all abilities and backgrounds. Mission We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Vision We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams At Girls on the Run of Central Maryland, teaching essential life skills is the cornerstone of our research-based programs in Howard, Carroll, Harford and Cecil counties. Trained volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. Founded in 2009, Girls on the Run of Central Maryland is dedicated to making an impact on girls' lives in our community. Girls on the Run Central Maryland Stats 2000 girls served annually 250+ coaches a season 25,000+ girls impacted 60+ locations Are you looking for a unique service leadership opportunity that allows you to put your lived experiences to direct good use? Girls on the Run of Central MD is seeking members to add to our board of directors. The individuals elected for this office will each serve a 2 year term. As a member of our board, you can expect: Support and education from an experienced and caring board and staff Regular and effective communication Active participation and contributions from all members Utilization of your expertise through service on one board led committee
