Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic, and experienced Construction Project Manager who is a true On-Demand Leader and Impact Player. The ideal candidate is passionate about lean construction management, understands delivering projects on time and within budget, and places safety and quality at the forefront. You will lead and manage onsite healthcare construction projects with some travel involved. You are not just a manager but a leader who rolls up their sleeves to help the team win.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of complex construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, estimating, field operations, and client services, to drive project success.
- Implement lean construction principles, optimizing processes for efficiency and effectiveness while minimizing waste.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the face of Skyler and ensuring client satisfaction through exceptional project delivery.
- Act as a mentor and coach to the project team, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, addressing challenges head-on to ensure smooth project progression.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Expectations Timeline:
Please note this may vary by persons experience but Skyler expect at a minimum.
First Week:
- Familiarize yourself with Skyler’s culture, values, and project management approach.
- Meet with key stakeholders, including project teams, clients, and vendors, to understand ongoing projects and expectations.
- Begin onboarding with a focus on Skyler's systems, processes, and lean construction principles.
First Month:
- Take ownership of an ongoing project, understanding the scope, budget, and timeline. Begin to identify any potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Build rapport with project teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Conduct a thorough review of project plans, identifying opportunities for lean process improvements.
Second Month:
- Lead weekly project meetings, driving accountability and ensuring alignment on deliverables.
- Strengthen client relationships by providing regular updates and addressing concerns promptly.
- Begin developing a roadmap for project completion, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety.
Third Month:
- Take full control of your assigned projects, ensuring all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Start driving initiatives for continuous improvement and innovation within your projects.
- Collaborate with the business development team to support new client outreach and proposal development.
Six Months:
- Successfully deliver at least one major project milestone or complete a smaller project within budget, on time, and to Skyler’s quality standards.
- Implement a standard operating procedure (SOP) or improvement that enhances project delivery.
- Start mentoring a junior team member or intern, fostering the next generation of Skyler leaders.
One Year and Beyond:
- Establish yourself as a key leader within the Skyler team, driving growth and excellence in project delivery.
- Take on more complex, high-value projects that showcase your leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and expansion of Skyler’s healthcare construction division, working closely with senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in healthcare construction.
- Strong understanding of lean construction principles and a track record of successfully implementing them.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and build strong client relationships.
- High Construction IQ with a deep understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Willingness to travel locally and nationwide as needed.
- A high school diploma is required; a four-year degree from an accredited university in construction, engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
