Senior Architect

Job Description and Key ResponsibilitiesDesign LeadershipLead and oversee architectural design from Pre-Design through Construction Administration, ensuring alignment with client goals, program requirements, budget, and schedule.Translate conceptual design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable solutions.Uphold the firm’s design standards, and quality objectives.Technical & Project ExecutionDirect production of Construction Documents consistent with AIA documentation standards.Resolve complex technical, code, and constructability issues.Coordinate architectural work with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, specialty).Maintain compliance with applicable codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility standards, and sustainability goals.Construction Phase ServicesProvide oversight during Bidding/Negotiation and Construction Administration.Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance with design intent.Respond to RFIs and issue Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASIs) as required.Participate in site visits, field observations, and problem resolution.Client & Stakeholder EngagementServe as a senior point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.Present design solutions and technical recommendations clearly and professionally.Support project management efforts related to scope, schedule, and fee.Mentorship & Firm SupportMentor architectural staff and provide technical guidance across project teams.Assist in establishing office standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices.Contribute to proposal development, interviews, and business development efforts as needed.QualificationsRequiredProfessional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).Licensed Architect (or actively pursuing licensure where permitted).7+ years of professional experience, including leadership on complex projects.Strong knowledge of AIA project phases, contract documents, and standard forms.Proficiency in architectural production tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, BIM workflows).Demonstrated expertise in building codes, systems coordination, and construction detailing.PreferredExperience with large-scale, government, civic, or complex building types.Familiarity with sustainable design frameworks (e.g., LEED, WELL).Prior experience mentoring staff or leading multiple project teams.Core Competencies (Aligned with AIA Practice Definitions)Design Thinking & Problem SolvingTechnical Leadership & DocumentationIntegrated Project Delivery AwarenessRisk Management & Quality ControlProfessional Ethics & Client AdvocacyReporting & CollaborationReports to: Principal / Director / Partner
