Workday Functional Leads– HCM & Financials

William Everett consulting is trusted by institutions, governments, and Fortune 500 technology companies to help them adapt, evolve, and improve performance.We are seeking seasoned Workday Functional Leads (HCM & Financials) for a high-impact, 3-month engagement critical to the success of a Workday implementation. In this role, you will lead deep functional discovery with HR and Finance leaders, translate complex business needs into precise Workday requirements, and produce a polished, evaluation-ready RFP that enables an objective, defensible vendor selection.Key ResponsibilitiesLead structured discovery workshops with HR, Finance, Payroll, Budget, Procurement, and related teams to document current-state challenges, regulatory considerations, and prioritized future-state outcomesOwn and maintain the functional scope and assumptions package, including in-scope/out-of-scope definitions, dependencies, risks, constraints, and recommended implementation phasingAuthor, review, and finalize all Workday HCM and Financials functional RFP content—requirements, workflows, business rules, security roles, controls, reporting, and compliance—written clearly for vendor executionDefine proposal-level expectations for integrations and data conversion, including key interfaces, source/target systems, data flows, and third-party dependenciesEstablish clear expectations for the system integrator’s delivery approach (design, configuration, testing, training, change management, cutover, and stabilization) to ensure proposals are directly comparableDrive a disciplined execution cadence by managing the workplan, facilitating weekly check-ins, maintaining decisions and RAID logs, and coordinating with IT, Security, and Procurement to align functional, technical, and sourcing requirementsAct as the primary Workday functional liaison between business stakeholders and the selected system integratorValidate functional designs and configuration decisions against approved RFP requirements and scope assumptionsSupport testing strategy execution, UAT planning, and defect triage and prioritizationAssist with change management, training readiness, and business process adoptionSupport cutover planning and post–go-live stabilizationProvide continuity from procurement through implementation deliveryRequired QualificationsProven experience leading Workday HCM and Financials functional discovery, requirements definition, and scope and assumptions documentationWorkday Pro Certification required for the primary functional area (HCM or Financials); additional Workday certifications strongly preferredDemonstrated success authoring or contributing to Workday RFIs/RFPs and supporting procurement artifacts (requirements matrices, demo scripts, evaluation criteria), ideally within public-sector or highly regulated environmentsStrong end-to-end knowledge of Workday business processes across HCM, Payroll, Finance, Budget, and ProcurementAbility to facilitate cross-functional workshops, resolve competing priorities, and document decisions with audit- and procurement-ready traceabilityTrack record of delivering high-quality written deliverables under tight timelines while managing stakeholders, approvals, and dependencies within a 3-month windowAdditional requirementsAbility to pass a criminal background check.Authorized to work in the US for any employer.Local in the Chicagoland areaNote: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
