In support of our portfolio of 2700+ hybrid and open access scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.About The RoleWe are looking for a new Deputy Editor on the editorial team of the Cell Press journal Joule. Since its launch in 2017 Joule has quickly become established as one of the world's leading forums for cutting edge energy research and insightful analysis and commentary.The Deputy Editor will be closely involved with all editorial aspects of the journal, taking a leadership role with responsibilities for helping to coordinate the editorial team and shaping and implementing a journal strategy that ensures Joule remains topical, distinctive, impactful and agenda-setting.Our North America editorial office is in Cambridge MA; we also consider working primarily remotely from home.ResponsibilitiesTaking a leadership role in the editorial team, coordinating workflow, mentoring team members, and deputizing for the Editor in ChiefRigorously evaluating submissions against Joule's demanding requirements for reporting breakthrough energy-first researchBuilding global networks and commissioning world-leading submissions (including insightful front matter articles)Shaping and implementing a journal strategy that ensures Joule remains topical, distinctive, impactful and agenda-settingCollaborating with Cell Press colleagues to broaden our footprint and ensure we continue to meet the needs of the research communities we serveLeading strategic projects spanning Cell PressTraveling to participate in international conferences and visit top research institutes to engage with researchersRequirementsProven successful senior editorial & research experience relevant to Joule. Research experience (and proven ability in influencing the community, and handling manuscripts) in batteries is advantageous.Possess a passion for sustainable energy research across the scope of Joule, and proven ability forming links with, and influencing, global energy researchersDemonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and people management skillsWork in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
