Depending on your package selection, Averro offers PTO, paid holidays, and legal insurance.EXTENSION/CONVERSION: EligibleOur client is seeking a Nuclear Methods Software Engineer contractor for an entry-level position. You will play a role in developing an in-house framework. It is a Python codebase supporting nuclear reactor design and analysis for nuclear reactor projects. It is also used by other nuclear start-ups and academic institutions. This position would be writing Python software daily, including regular code reviews, rigorous software testing and writing documentation. The Nuclear Methods Software Engineer will see a wide range of nuclear design and analysis topics and will have the chance to meaningfully contribute to all of them.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and write Python software for the framework, and the surrounding software ecosystemParticipate earnestly on both sides of the code review processAudit and write tests within large Python code basesAudit and write documentation for nuclear methods softwareSupport continuous integration and deployment of mission-critical nuclear reactor design and analysis softwareSupport continuous learning and application of software best practices on a team of diverse engineersESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSB.S. degree in Nuclear EngineeringORB.S. degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience in the nuclear methodsStrength with the Python programming languageHigh degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamworkStrong communication skills.An interest in software testingAn interest in good software documentationAn interest in quality and best practicesAn interest in building a career at the place where nuclear engineering and software engineering meetStrong verbal communication skillsBONUS QUALIFICATIONSExperience with unit testing in PythonExperience writing and maintaining high-quality software documentationExperience in applying software quality principles and best practicesAn interest in advocating for those principles and best practicesExperience with CI/CD tools and conceptsUnderstanding of fast reactors and other advanced reactorsExperience with Digital Twin modeling of nuclear reactorsExperience with real-time data pipelinesA graduate degree in Nuclear Engineering or equivalentProfessional programming experienceWHY AVERRO?BENEFITS: We offer premium benefits to our contractors.VETERAN OWNED: We support and place a high number of veterans.Averro is an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
