Job Title: CampusLevel Instructional Coach Wage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: Campus Principal Pay Grade: AP3Dept./School: Elementary, Middle, High School Length of Contract: 10 mos.Revised Date: 2/5/19Primary PurposeThe purpose of an Instructional Coach is to improve teaching and learning by transforming the culture in which:Teaching is transparent and it is the focus among professionalsPlanning for instruction is thorough, collaborative, and has great depth and understanding of pedagogyConversations about improving instruction are constant, based on data, and are supportive through modelingInstructional Coaches will support lesson planning/design/differentiation, instructional best practices, understanding of content, developing high quality instructional tasks, data analysis, and overall improvement in teaching and learning based on TEKS.QualificationsEducation/Certification:Bachelor's DegreeMaster's Degree preferredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessmentAbility to organize, coordinate, and facilitate instructionAbility to interpret dataAbility to provide ongoing, targeted professional developmentStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperienceThree years' experience as a classroom teacherSupervisory Or Leadership Experience PreferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Role #1: Classroom SupporterPurpose: To increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction based on using the gradual release model and may include but not limited to:CollaboratingCo-planningModelingCo-teachingProviding descriptive feedbackRole #2: Instructional SupporterPurpose: To support the implementation of effective instructional strategies including, but not limited to:Assessment for learningDifferentiation of instructionMastery of objectivesBuilding teacher capacity by modeling/working with students and/or intervention groups for short periods of time in elementary classroomsRole #3: Curriculum or Content FacilitatorPurpose: To promote implementation of state standards through adopted curricula but not limited to:Increasing teacher content knowledgeFacilitating a better understanding of the structure of written, taught and tested curriculumDessecting standards to guide high priority knowledge and skillsRole #4: Data CoachPurpose:To facilitate conversations using data to drive instructional decisions including, but not limited to:Collaborating with teachers to analyze formative and summative student achievement dataAssisting teachers with the use of data to plan instruction and improve student learningRole #5: Facilitator for ChangePurpose: To engage teachers in reflective thinking while looking at their own instructional practices critically and analytically including, but not limited to:Fostering a safe, trusting environment for teachersIntroducing alternatives and refinements for teacher instructional practicesRole #6: LearnerPurpose: To engage in continuous learning in order to keep current including, but not limited to:Engaging in professional development opportunities and professional readingPracticing and reflecting about what is learnedAttending weekly coach's meetingsRole #7: Professional Learning FacilitatorPurpose: To design and facilitate effective professional learning opportunities based on the Lubbock Independent School Districts Instructional Frameworks (see appendix) including, but not limited to:Providing professional developmentFacilitating other forms of professional development (e.g., bringing in consultants, leading book studies)Role #8: School LeadershipPurpose: To support and communicate school and district initiatives with the school community including, but not limited to:Supporting implementation of the Standards of Excellence and Instructional FrameworksActing as strong advocate for student learningRole #9: ResourcePurpose: To identify a variety of resources to enhance classroom instruction and student achievement including but not limited to:Identifying instructional and assessment resources appropriate for the learning taskSharing research and instructional best practicesPolice, Reports, and LawComply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.General Employee RequirementsSupport and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district.Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility.Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning.Share in the development and implementation of district success plans.Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and district contribution.Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a suitable example for LISD students.Working ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress.
