This role ensures compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in the management of patient health information and coding practices.Key responsibilities include oversight of:Medical record processing, completion, and storageCoding accuracy and timeliness (acute and ambulatory)Data abstraction, indexing, and transcription servicesRelease of information and regulatory complianceTrauma registry and documentation systemsPhysician suspension processes related to documentation deficienciesThe Director is responsible for establishing departmental policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining strong communication with executive leadership and clinical teams.Health Information Management Director (HIM) Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all HIM department operationsEnsure compliance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAAOversee coding quality, audits, and documentation integrityDevelop and implement policies and process improvementsCollaborate with leadership on organizational initiativesManage staff performance, training, and developmentHealth Information Management Director (HIM) Minimum QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Science, or related field(Or active plan to complete degree)Experience:Minimum 5 years of management/supervisory experienceMinimum 5 years of medical coding experienceExperience with HIPAA regulations preferredCertifications:RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) – RequiredRHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) – PreferredAbout the AreaSalina offers a high quality of life with a strong sense of community and affordability.
