Engineer, Control Systems I

This position is an embedded, on-site role supporting refinery PLC systems. The engineer will work directly with the client's control systems team and is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving PLC-based control systems across the facility.The role requires strong technical capability, ownership of system reliability, and the ability to operate effectively with minimal direction in a live operating environment.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and support refinery PLC systems to ensure safe and reliable operationTroubleshoot and resolve field issues in real timeModify and update PLC logic to support project and operational changesPerform firmware upgrades and minor hardware upgrades for legacy systemsSupport MOC processes and ensure compliance with site standardsParticipate in system testing, loop checks, cutovers, and startup activitiesWork closely with operations, maintenance, and client engineering teamsIdentify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks and proactively address themEffectively utilize time during low workload periods to improve systems, documentation, or standards.Respond to callouts as needed and scheduled.Key Attributes:Strong troubleshooting skills in operating industrial environmentsAble to work safely and effectively in a refinery settingSelf-directed and proactive; does not rely on constant task assignmentComfortable working as part of a client-integrated teamStrong sense of ownership and accountability for system performanceAble to interpret and apply facility standards and system philosophiesTechnical Capabilities:PLC / HMI Programming:PLC programming (Allen Bradley CLX, CompactLogix, SLC, and PLC5 are required)HMI programming (PanelView is required)Logic Solver programming (Triconex Platform preferred, plus others)Familiarity with P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional NarrativesCutovers/loop checksStartup assistance/troubleshootingDCS Exposure (preferred)Honeywell ExperionSafety Systems (is a plus):Triconex, Safety Manager, or similar logic solversCore Competencies:Safety: Is proactive in all safety matters and displays an enthusiasm for safety.Attitude: Exhibits a positive attitude, shows initiative, and accepts direction from qualified sources; demonstrates dependability and commitment to Mangan projects.Teamwork: Interacts well, cooperates with coworkers on the team, and shows respect for all team members.Quality: Work meets or exceeds the company quality standard; ability to multi-task.Knowledge: Displays the ability to perform the challenging technical skills required for the project.Communication: Effectively and respectfully communicates on all levels, both written and oral, with all clients, vendors, and Mangan staff.Problem-Solving Skills: Analyzes problems and reaches acceptable and workable solutionsDecision Making: Displays the willingness and judgment to make decisions; take actions upon decisions made with good judgmentBenefitsCompetitive salary with a discretionary bonus for hours worked in excess of 80 hours in a two-week pay periodBenefit Time Off (BTO) that can be used as paid vacation, sick time, holiday funding, or can be taken as cashEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)401(k) MatchingCompany funded health insuranceHealth club sponsorship
