Staff Accountant

Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting team with a strong focus on Accounts Payable. This role will also assist with various accounting functions including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, understands purchase order workflows, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Key ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and weekly payment runs Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain strong vendor relationships Process invoices through an automated AP system Assist with month-end close and preparation of financial statements Perform bank reconciliations and maintain balance sheet accounts Conduct budget vs. actual variance analysisPrepare account analyses and reports as needed Support year-end audit activities and external auditor requests Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Payroll functions Collaborate with the finance team on ad hoc projects Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones when needed QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Experience working with purchase orders and invoice matching required Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) Experience with AP automation tools is a plus Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and WordSkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational and communication skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ascendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
