Adjunct/Part-Time Instructor of Economics

JOB DESCRIPTION The Division of Business, Communications, & Sport at Newberry College invites applications for adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach courses in economics, including principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and possibly upper-division classes depending on the needs of the department. Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. JOB FUNCTIONS Instructing assigned classes. Grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments. Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students. Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment. Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings. Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Dean of Business, Communications, and Sports. EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION Minimum Requirements: Master's or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field. A minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in economics is required. Previous teaching experience, particularly in Principles of Economics. Demonstrated expertise in economic theories, principles, and applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Economics or a related field. Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution. Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats in addition to in-person classrooms.
