This is a critical role responsible for ensuring product availability, quality, and competitive pricing across a major regional market.As a Meat Buyer, you will work directly with packers, processors, and key suppliers while partnering with sales, operations, and category management to support customer demand and margin performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and understands the dynamics of protein procurement.What You’ll Do Purchase beef and/or pork products in bulk from packers and processors Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply conditions to make informed buying decisions Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing shrink and obsolescence Build and manage strong supplier relationshipsCollaborate with sales and operations to support customer needs and product strategyUtilize ERP/procurement systems to manage orders, pricing, and inventoryEnsure compliance with USDA, food safety, and company standards What You Bring High School Diploma or Equivalent required (degree preferred) Minimum 2 years of beef or pork purchasing experience Experience in wholesale food distribution strongly preferred Strong understanding of meat specifications, packer relationships, and market dynamicsExcellent negotiation, communication, and vendor‑management skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systemsAbility to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment Compensation & Benefits Earn up to a total of $100,000 (base + bonus) Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more High growth potential within a large, nationally recognized organization Ready to Take the Next Step?
