Material Handler

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting maintenance operations and supply chain functions through the safe handling, movement, storage, and tracking of materials, parts, and equipment. This role ensures maintenance teams have the necessary materials available while maintaining accurate inventory and adhering to safety and operational standards.Duties and Responsibilities:  Material Handling & Inventory ControlIssue materials to maintenance personnel as neededMaintain accurate inventory records in CMMS/ERP systemsMonitor stock levels and notify appropriate personnel of shortagesMaintenance SupportStage parts, tools, and materials for planned maintenance workAssist maintenance technicians in locating and transporting equipmentTrack work order materials and ensure proper allocationSupport shutdowns, turnarounds, and preventative maintenance activitiesShipping & ReceivingLoad and unload deliveries using forklifts or other equipmentCoordinate with vendors and carriers as neededGeneral DutiesOperate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)Maintain records and documentation related to inventory and materialsSupport continuous improvement initiatives within maintenance and supply chainPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills and Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required2+ years of experience in an industrial, warehouse, or maintenance environment preferredKnowledge of inventory control and material handling practicesExperience in heavy industry (mining, manufacturing, energy, etc.) preferredFamiliarity with CMMS or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferredAbility to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (certification preferred)Strong organizational and time management skillsBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory systems)Ability to read and interpret work orders, packing slips, and technical documentsGood communication and teamwork abilitiesMust possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to operate a light vehicle.Ability to work in an industrial environment requiring the use of PPE when requiredPhysical Demands: To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.Comfortable working at heights and using ladders or liftsAble to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.Able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically..
