The Project Engineer is the company’s management representative responsible for the safe completion of project within the budget, on schedule, to the company’s quality standards, and to the customer’s satisfaction. It is his/her responsibility to initiate any action required to achieve the above objectives and insure that all project activities are consistent with company policy. Reports to the Project Manager.
Duties
The Project Engineer’s duties will vary, as required, to support the Project Superintendent and other personnel assigned to the project. His/her first responsibility is to insure the effectiveness of the Superintendent and his staff. Generally, the Project Engineer’s role will concentrate more on long-term planning, scheduling, the identification of future “roadblocks” and “pitfalls”, and the solving of these problems prior to their impact on the project. The Project Engineer is to insure that all logistical support is completed in a timely fashion so the Superintendent can concentrate on the daily and weekly direction of the company’s forces and coordination of subcontractors.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise and effectively manage staff workload.
Responsible for interviewing, recruiting, discipline, and/or termination of project personal.
Document control.
Ensure daily reports are being entered daily.
Prepare Department and Administration monthly reports.
Review and approve payroll.
Review and approve project expenditures.
Work with Purchasing in setting up/executing trade buyout ensuring scope coverage.
Initiate and process purchase orders as needed. Direct and oversee construction projects from conception to completion while monitoring compliance with safety and building regulations.
Maintain and manage all purchase and delivery schedules, shop drawings, change order process, document control logs, Owner, Architect and Subcontractor correspondence.
Administer financial aspects of the Owner’s contract, subcontracts and purchase order.
Manage subcontractor closeout.
Ensure conformance with company A/P procedures.
Create and maintain schedule of values and project logs.
Ensure that project documents are archived and maintained following Company procedures.
Follow up all accounts receivable including retainage.
Assure public agency coordination and prepare permit applications.
Oversight of SWPPP
Review and become familiar with all aspects of the Owner / Contractor’s Prime Contract and confirm the budget setup and milestones.
Ensure that all Contractor requirements are met and the Owner/Contractor/ Design team relationship and responsibilities are conducted in accordance with the Agreement.
Responsible for understanding and administering prime contract terms and conditions, contract documents, subcontract agreements, purchase order agreements, insurance, etc.
Author or approve all outgoing RFI’s, assure distribution and initiate cost or time impact to all answered RFI’s.
Ensure that as many levels of detailed schedules are prepared and distributed as required to support the project schedule.
Work to insure that the building schedule is closely adhered to. Focus team on critical path tasks.
Review /perform quality control function of all project submittals management including: Production, Tracking, Accuracy and Closing.
Process submittals to achieve the project schedule and the contract documents.
Manage client and consultant team approvals of submittals.

Pay: $57,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
