JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Cardiologist Job Type: Locum Tenens (Full-Time; flexible coverage accepted, 24 weeks/month) Location: Erie, PA Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Oct 6, 2025 Jun 30, 2026 (ASAP start available with temps/emergency privileges) Clinical Shift Schedule: Mon Fri, 8a 4:30p (clinic 9a 4p; diagnostic reads interspersed) On-Call Shift Schedule: Weekdays 5p 8a; 24-hour weekend coverage Call Type: Telephone (30-minute response) Call Ratio: 1:1 (with APP support during day hours) Call Response Time: 30 minutes COVERAGE DATES Oct 6, 2025 Jun 30, 2026 Emergency/temporary privileges available in 30 days for earlier start PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults only Patient Volume/Census: Variable; 56 weekday calls/night; 810 follow-ups + 10 consults on weekends Admissions: 1 average admission while on call Rounding: Included Phone Consults: Yes Case Mix: 100% Cardiology FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 458 Trauma Level: Level II EMR System: Epic/Cerner Office Equipment Available: Multiple diagnostic systems (5 total) Specialty Backup Available: APP support 8a5p Support Staff Available: RNs, APPs Reason for Coverage: Candidate on leave PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (temps/emergency 30 days) Credentialing Timeline: 60 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered Lodging: Up to $175/night (preferred hotel list available) Rental Car: $75/day (AprNov); $100/day for 4WD SUV (DecMar) Airfare: Economy seating with 1 checked bag; mileage reimbursed at IRS rates REQUIRED PROCEDURES Coverage of hospital duties including diagnostic reads, consultations, and clinic appointments Not expected to perform EKG, Echo, or Stress Tests, but may do so if they wish JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active Pennsylvania license required Board: Board Certified in Cardiology DEA: Active DEA Certification required Certifications: ACLS Experience: Minimum 1 year Other Qualifications: Proficiency with Epic/Cerner EMR systems DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide full-time coverage of hospital-based cardiology services Perform diagnostic testing reads and consultations Participate in clinic coverage and follow-up appointments Take weekday night call and weekend 24-hour call as scheduled Collaborate with APPs, RNs, and support staff to ensure quality patient care Respond to phone consults and provide timely follow-up on admissions and call-backs
