Senior Energy Engineer

ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUPis hiring aSeniorEnergy Engineerto join our PacificWest team in the San Francisco Bay area. This position requires frequent travel up to 50%, including overnight stays is required.The position is responsible for producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. The job environment is stable, based on known relationships with people and well-defined processes. Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step-by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Communication with others is based on knowledge of repetitive job routines and procedures gained from sufficient on-the-job experience. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success.The essential functions of the position include:Lead a team of up to three direct reports providing work assignment, mentorship, and training. Work closely with senior management in this regardLead energy audits, develop energy savings calculations, and develop cost estimates for energy conservation measures (ECMs) at large federal, commercial, and institutional facilities with minimal supportManage all technical aspects of assigned projectsProvide client facing communications including regular updates and strategy discussionsManage and cultivate relationships with existing clients to support continued sales growthResponsible for feasibility studiesResponsible for engineering analysis and energy savings calculations using building modeling and bin analysis methodsManage subconsultants including other engineering specialties (electrical, mechanical, structural, etc.)Responsible for mechanical/electrical systems designResponsible for client facing report preparationResponsible for measurement and verification plan and calculations developmentResponsible for measurement and verification process and activities including planning, data collection and reportingResponsible for developing cost estimates under project management supervisionIdentify and quantify energy conservation measuresPerform data entry, equipment identification/research, and utility analysisPerform energy benchmarking and review analysis performed by others for all project scope of workPerform site inspections, equipment inventories, measurements, and data collection using digital camera, digital tablets, and/or handwritten notesDevelop custom ad-hoc calculations and analyses based on client inquiries and ECMsAnalyze utility bill data to determine customer energy performance parametersWrite ECM descriptions and supporting documents to be included in report submissions.Manage project resources and expense budgetsQuality assurance reviews of internal work and client-facing work product.Understand all aspects of the Company Employee Handbook and pertinent Company systems and processesOther tasks as assignedYour backgroundincludes:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical, or related field required10+ years of industry experience with 5+ years working with public agency clientsProficient in conducting Building Controls, HVAC, Lighting, Renewable Power, and other Electrical Systems surveys and energy analysisProficient in measurement and verification protocols & proceduresKnowledgeable of HVAC systems including but not limited to chillers, boilers, air handlers, variable speed drives, and motorsKnowledgeable of Energy Management Systems and control strategies development.Fluent with local building and energy codesCalifornia Division of the School Architect (DSA) design and permitting experienceCertified Energy Manager, LEED AP, or other industry certificationWhat we bring to you:Professional growth and development programs, including tuition reimbursementComprehensive health, dental, vision insurance plans and wellness plans for employees and your familyLife insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, and supplemental benefits401(k) Savings PlanNine Paid Holidays with three floater holidaysPaid Vacation and Personal/Sick LeavePaid Parental Leave for the birth, adoption, or placement of a child/childrenHighly competitive salaries and incentive structureSalary range: $145,000 to $180,000 per year, commensurate with experienceWe want you to know:PacificWest is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
