Server Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Server is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience by providing attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service to every guest. This role manages the full table experience from greeting and order taking through payment, while supporting the overall flow and cleanliness of the dining room.Servers are expected to work collaboratively with the entire front-of-house and back-of-house team to ensure timely, accurate service that reflects Iron Hill’s standards of hospitality.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Essential ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & Table ManagementGreet guests promptly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout their dining experienceTake food and beverage orders accurately and communicate special requests to the kitchenDeliver food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional mannerCheck in with guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction and address any concernsProcess guest payments accurately, including cash handling and payment processingThank guests upon departure and ensure a positive final impressionFood & Beverage KnowledgeMaintain thorough knowledge of the menu, including food, beer, and beverage offeringsPrep light fare plates and desserts as neededAdhere to state laws and Iron Hill alcohol service policies at all timesDining Room MaintenanceClear and reset tables according to restaurant standards to prepare for incoming guestsMaintain cleanliness of guest areas including restrooms, floors, and surrounding sectionsRestock and replenish tablewares and food and drink prep areas throughout serviceDispose of trash and assist with general housekeeping tasks as neededOpening & Closing DutiesComplete opening procedures including dining room setup, expo line setup, drink service setup, dessert counter setup, and appetizer line setupComplete closing procedures including housekeeping tasks and polishing silverwareEfficiently prepare and shut down shift sidework within designated time standardsTeam SupportFunction as a Server Assistant when needed to support table flow and guest experienceFunction as Host or Expo occasionally as neededSupport other front-of-house team members during busy service periodsEfficiently operate restaurant POS, scheduling, and communication systemsPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands listed below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (6+ hours per shift)Ability to lift and carry items up to 25–40 pounds, including full trays, stacks of plates, bus bins, and buckets of iceFrequent carrying of multiple plates of food and full or empty traysOccasional lifting of chairs, booster seats, highchairs, and tablesFrequent reaching, firm grasping, and fine manipulation throughout serviceOccasional forward bending, kneeling, and squattingAbility to push and pull carts of ice, glassware, and silverwareAbility to climb stairs and step stools where applicableReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.QualificationsExcellent judgment while serving in adherence to state laws and Iron Hill alcohol policiesAbility to obtain and maintain applicable alcohol and food handling certificationsProper cash handling skills and accurate payment processingBasic math skillsAbility to lift 25 lbs over the waistStrong organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean and efficient work areaUnderstanding of restaurant POS, scheduling, and communication systemsUnderstanding of sanitation and safety proceduresAbility to work within Iron Hill time standards of serviceCommitment to avoiding waste and respecting company propertyFriendly and professional interactions with guests and team membersAbility to create a positive and hospitable working environmentExcellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of peopleDetail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion of all daily responsibilitiesCommunication & Language SkillsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to communicate clearly with employees, vendors, and guests both verbally and in writingAbility to respond to questions and provide information effectively across all interactions
