The position is responsible for assisting the Head Women's Wrestling Coach in all aspects of the Women's Wrestling program, ensuring adherence to NCAA compliance. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assists with recruiting student-athletes that are committed to academic and athletic excellence.2. Has adequate training and background to properly plan, implement, train, and coach women's wrestling at the collegiate level.3. Assists Head Coach with team training and various administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to, community service, academic support, fundraising, and recruiting.4. Learns, understands, and complies with all NCAA and Gannon University policies and requirements.5. Promotes a positive student-athlete experience.6. Promotes and represents the University whenever possible.7. Assists with the design and development of strength and conditioning plans.8. Assists with the operation and instruction of camps and clinics.9. Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills within the program, department, and University.10. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the position.Required QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Education: A Bachelor's Degree; working knowledge of freestyle wrestling techniques and NCAA rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.Experience: Freestyle wrestling experience. Women's wrestling coaching and/or competitive experience at the collegiate level is strongly preferred.Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license in good standing and CPR/AED and First Aid certified.Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated organizational and time management skills; technical knowledge of freestyle wrestling skills and strategy combined with the ability to effectively teach and coach them; the ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes; strong administrative skills such as prioritization, organization, and budgeting; ability to work independently and to work under pressure.Preferred QualificationsPrior collegiate competitive and/or coaching experience. Certified strength and conditioning coach.Physical DemandsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy athletic team schedule.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a busy University setting.
