Registered Nurse - Inpatient Mental Health

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.The Registered Nurse for Inpatient Mental Health provides and leads the provision of competent, evidence-based care, the psychiatric MH nurse independently provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care, milieu management, and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with MH conditions.Major Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting.Effectively functions as a leader, with demonstrated outcomes, for the immediate practice setting.Improves Veteran/patient-driven care by resolving experience issues such as coordination of care, timeliness or process issues, common themes of dissatisfaction, or environment of care concerns for the immediate practice setting.Applies patient, family, and caregiver knowledge, values, and beliefs to care delivery without judgment or discrimination.Serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, improving outcomes for the immediate practice setting.Serves as a resource for patients, caregivers, and staff to address and resolve ethical issues in the immediate practice setting.Lead the implementation of high-reliability principles and ICARE values to increase consistency of care and improve patient outcomes.Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting.Leads teams, contribute to team conferences, and actively collaborates in all phases of patient care planning. Successfully integrates objectives, opportunities, and resources.Considers alternative courses of action. Respect the opinions, abilities, and contributions of others. Encourages individual growth and development.Effectively sets group goals and keeps self and team informed of the latest trends and developments. Inspires the cooperation and confidence of others. Demonstrates a high level of expertise.Expands knowledge base and practice evaluation through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching to improve outcomes in the immediate practice setting.Lead education initiatives to expand knowledge with improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting.Takes responsibility for personal and professional career goals. Supports the professional growth of others.Participates in the profession's advancement through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching.Applies evidence-based practice/research, resulting in improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting.Assess the immediate practice setting to identify efficient, cost-effective care delivery.Leads patient care improvement through monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating care outcomes in the immediate practice setting.Leads initiatives to expand the best techniques for identifying and applying patient preferences to shared care delivery decisions in the immediate practice setting.Meets the needs of the Veteran and, as appropriate, the Veteran's family caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers while supporting VA missionsVA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Days with rotation, (6) 12-Hour Shifts from 7:00am - 7:30pm and (1) 8-Hour Shift which may be days or evenings.
