Position InformationJob Title: Senior Research AssociateLocation: Cambridge, Massachusetts (with limited remote flexibility)Role OverviewA global life sciences organisation is seeking a Senior Research Associate to contribute to antibody discovery and development programmes. In this role, you will design and perform laboratory-based research focused on identifying and optimizing therapeutic antibody candidates.You will be responsible for planning and executing experimental strategies, applying display technologies, and advancing candidates through early discovery and optimisation phases. The position requires a high level of independence, technical expertise, and the ability to interpret complex experimental data.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and carry out in vitro antibody discovery workflows using display technologies such as yeast or phage systemsPerform advanced laboratory experiments independently and contribute to the progression of therapeutic candidatesGenerate and utilise immune libraries derived from biological sources for discovery purposesDevelop and refine libraries aimed at improving antibody characteristics such as affinity, potency, and stabilityPrepare biological samples for sequencing using modern sequencing techniques and analyse resulting dataConduct cell-based experiments, including mammalian cell culture, immunoassays, and flow cytometry (including cell sorting)Apply molecular biology techniques such as cloning, gene amplification, mutagenesis, and nucleic acid extractionAnalyse experimental outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and propose improvements or next stepsSupport experimental design and maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and documentationOrganise and analyse data from collaborative projects, including maintaining records in laboratory information systemsRequirementsMaster's degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology, or BioengineeringAt least 1 year of relevant laboratory or research experienceRequired experience includes:Designing and executing antibody discovery strategies using display technologiesConstructing and working with biological libraries using molecular biology techniquesManaging research projects from early discovery through candidate selectionDesigning and building genetic constructs for cell line developmentDeveloping and applying high-throughput screening assays, including flow cytometry-based methodsHands-on experience in areas such as antibody discovery, molecular biology, or related research fieldsAdditional InformationFull-time roleSalary range typically between $86,000 and $148,000 annually, depending on experience and qualificationsHybrid work model with up to approximately 20% remote workEligible employees may receive additional incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, retirement plans, paid leave, and development opportunities
