Assistant Plan Examiner, Electrical
This position performs work of moderate difficulty and responsibility in the engineering analysis of building equipment systems, and the examination of plans for the construction, alteration or repair of buildings and equipment systems under the jurisdiction of the Department of Buildings.Under Supervision Examines and reviews design and/or equipment plans and specifications for the installation of electrical systems 1,000 kVA and above, under the jurisdiction of the Department of Buildings to note compliance with and violation of Construction Code provisions and other pertinent codes and regulations regarding structures, materials, applications, and methods of construction, etc. Interprets the National Electrical Code, Construction Code, Zoning Resolution and other rules, regulations, and legislation as they apply to the legality of proposed building construction, alteration or repair, including all Energy code requirements Prepares reports and recommendations on the approval of applications Engages in research, investigations, studies, and examinations related to the National Electrical Code May be required to perform fieldwork to make on site determinationsCIVIL SERVICE STATUSUnless the list is exhausted during recruitment for this position, only permanent Assistant Electrical Engineer, applicants who are reachable on the Assistant Electrical Engineer open competitive list, and applicants as indicated below will be considered.Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York.REMOTE WORKThis position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.To ApplyVisit Jobs NYC (cityjobs.nyc.gov) to view and apply for available positions.
