Position Type: Full-Time

About LPI Services: LPI Services is a Lochridge-Priest company focused on providing commercial facilities throughout Central Texas with dependable HVAC, plumbing, electrical, retrofit, and preventative maintenance services. LPI's service team supports commercial and industrial facilities with responsive technical expertise, including 24/7 emergency service and ongoing maintenance support. LPI is backed by the long-standing Lochridge-Priest organization, which has served Texas commercial and industrial customers for decades. Lochridge-Priest was founded in 1963 and has built its reputation around technical expertise, integrity, reliability, and long-term customer relationships. As LPI continues to grow its service operations and technician workforce, the company is seeking an experienced trades professional who can help develop its technicians, strengthen training programs, and ensure employees remain current with required certifications and credentials.
Position Overview: LPI Services is seeking a Field Training & Workforce Development Coordinator to serve as the bridge between the company's field operations, technicians, HR, and leadership teams. This position is ideal for an experienced HVAC, mechanical, or skilled-trades professional who has spent several years working in the field and is ready to transition into a broader training and workforce-development role without completely leaving the field behind. The position will be approximately 50% classroom, training, administrative, and HR support and 50% field-based support and technician engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with technicians across LPI's locations to ensure employees are properly trained, certified, and equipped to perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities: Training & Workforce Development
Develop, coordinate, and deliver technical, safety, and professional training for field technicians.
Conduct both classroom and hands-on training sessions.
Identify individual and department-wide training needs.
Assist technicians with obtaining required licenses, certifications, and credentials.
Maintain an accurate database of employee certifications, licenses, expiration dates, and training requirements.
Monitor certification expiration dates and proactively coordinate renewals.
Research new certifications, training programs, and continuing-education opportunities.
Assist with developing onboarding and training programs for new technicians.
Help develop career-development and advancement opportunities for field employees.
Serve as a mentor and resource for technicians at varying levels of experience.
Field Support
Spend approximately 50% of the position working directly with technicians in the field.
Travel between LPI locations and various commercial job sites.
Work alongside technicians to identify skill gaps and opportunities for development.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support when appropriate.
Observe field performance and communicate development opportunities to management.
Help ensure technicians are following company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Build strong relationships with field personnel and serve as a trusted resource for technicians and supervisors.
HR & Administrative Support
Partner with HR and operations leadership regarding employee development and training.
Assist with new-hire onboarding and orientation.
Maintain accurate employee training and certification records.
Coordinate required training, testing, and certification programs.
Assist HR with tracking employee qualifications and compliance requirements.
Provide management with regular updates regarding technician training and certification status.
Help identify recurring workforce-development issues and recommend solutions.
Assist with creating and maintaining standardized training documentation and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, or a related skilled trade.
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC/mechanical systems preferred.
Previous experience training, mentoring, supervising, or developing technicians strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Comfortable working with both field employees and office/HR personnel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable presenting information in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings.
Strong computer skills and ability to maintain databases and training records.
Ability to travel regularly between LPI locations and field job sites.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
The ideal candidate may be someone who loves the skilled trades but is ready to transition away from working in the field full-time and wants to use their knowledge and experience to develop the next generation of technicians. This is not a traditional desk-based HR position. LPI is looking for someone who understands the field, understands technicians, and can effectively communicate with both field personnel and company leadership.
Location & Travel: Because this position will support LPI's operations throughout Central Texas, candidates should ideally be located between Austin and Waco or within a reasonable driving distance of both markets. Regular travel between LPI locations, training facilities, and commercial job sites will be required.
Compensation$70,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Why Join LPI Services?
