Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Manager – Sanborn Tube & FabPosition SummaryThe Quality Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining the company’s QualityManagement System (QMS), ensuring all products meet customer specifications andregulatory requirements. This role drives continuous improvement across manufacturingprocesses including tube cutting, laser operations, bending, welding, and finishing.Key Responsibilities1. Quality System Leadership Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s QMS (ISO 9001 system) Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and industry standards Lead internal and external audits2. Team Leadership & Development Manage Quality Technicians Train staff on quality standards, inspection methods, and problem-solving tools Establish accountability and performance metrics3. Inspection & Process Control Oversee:o Incoming material inspectionso In-process inspections (laser, forming, machining)o Final inspections Ensure use of tools like CMM, calipers, micrometers4. Customer & Supplier Quality Act as primary contact for customer quality issues Manage complaints, returns, and corrective actions Work with suppliers on non-conforming materials and PPAP requirements5. Continuous Improvement Lead root cause analysis (8D, corrective/preventive actions) Drive Lean / Six Sigma initiatives Reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality Maintain company training policy6. Metrics & Reporting Track and report KPIs:o Scrap rateso Vendor PPMo Customer PPMo On-time delivery (quality-related delays) Present findings to leadership with improvement plans7. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with:o Operations (production efficiency)o Engineering (process capability, tolerances)o Sales (customer requirements and specs) Support new product launches and quoting feasibilityQualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred) 5+ years in manufacturing quality (metal fabrication strongly preferred) 2–5 years in leadership roleTechnical Skills Strong knowledge of:o ISO 9001 / QMS systemso Blueprint reading & GD&To PPAP, APQP, FMEAo Statistical process control (SPC) Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Global Shop or similar)Core Competencies Data-driven decision making Problem-solving and root cause analysis Leadership and team development Strong communication with customers and suppliers
