*Job Overview* QA Engineering is a mechanical, electrical, civil, energy, commissioning and lighting engineering design and construction firm. We provide integraded engineering solutions across the broad range of project types and are seeking a highly capable *Senior Electrical Engineer *to lead electrical design efforts and support multidisciplinary project delivery. *Position Summary:* The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading electrical engineering design and construction documentation for commercial and industrial projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge, independent judgement, and the ability to coordinate electrical scope across multidisciplinary teams. The role includes design, analysis, specification writing, cost estimating, field verification, client coordination, and mentoring junior staff. The engineer is responsible for the management of the electrical design process from early planning through construction support and closeout, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, quality standards, budgets, and project criteria. Engineers must have a State of New Mexico P.E. or be withing six-months of obtaining their P.E. Candidates must demonstrate an established background in commercial and industrial design, with specific design and construction documentation and familiarity with Design/Build projects. Responsibilities include performing a full range of electrical engineering tasks, including system design, specification writing, as-builting, drafting, calculations, job walks, cost estimating, and client coordination and reviews. *Essential Functions:* *Electrical Engineering & Design* * Lead and perform electrical engineering design for commercial and industrial projects. * Prepare complete electrical construction document packages including: Power Plans Lighting plans Panel schedule One-line diagrams Load calculations Equipment selection Specifications P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) As-built documentation * Perform electrical system analysis, calculations, and engineering reports * Develop and edit construction project specifications using Master Spec and Specsintact. * Review electrical design documents for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and code compliance. * Support fire alarm system design and coordination. *Project Leadership* * Serve as lead electrical engineer on multi-discipline project. * Coordinate with mechanical, civil, energy, commissioning, and lighting teams to integrate electrical systems into the overall design. * Manage assigned electrical scope, schedule, and budget to support successful project delivery. * Participate in internal design reviews, quality control reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings. * Identify design issues early and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. *Construction & Field Support* * Conduct job walks and site visits to verify existing conditions and assess electrical equipment and controls. * Provide construction-phase support including submittal review, responses to RFIs, field clarification, and review of as-built conditions. * Assist with cost estimating and review project scope and budget with clients. * Support design/build and commissioning-related activities throughout project execution. *Mentorship & Staff Development* * Mentor junior engineers and designers and assist in guiding their design activities to ensure quality standards, project criteria, and budget goals are met. * Delegate technical tasks appropriately and provide oversight to less experienced staff. * Promote consistency in drafting, calculations, documentation, and desigh standards. *Client Coordination* * Interface directly with clients to review project requirements, design progress, costs, and technical solutions. * Participate in meetings with owners, architects, contractors, and internal project teams. * Help maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and sound engineering judgement. *Senior-Level Expectations* * Provide technical quality assurance and quality control review of electrical deliverables. * Support proposal development, fee estimating, and scope definition for electrical work. * Contribute to the development of firm standards, specifications, and best practices. * Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, coordination, and project outcomes. * Represent the firm in technical meetings and project discussions. Other duties as assigned. *Required Education & Licensing:* * BS degree in Electrical Engineering * Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of New Mexico, or ability to obtain withing the 1st six months of employment. *Required Experience:* * 10+ years of hands-on electrical systems design experience, including production construction documents, and report writing. * Demonstrated experience in commercial and industrial design. * Experience leading complete electrical systems analysis and design. * Experience leading electrical design and multidisciplinary projects. * Advanced experience with: Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, Microstation, Excel, and MS Word. * Must have experience with construction Design/Build and commission processes. * Must be able to demonstrate an established career in commercial and industrial design specific to Design and Construction documentation with familiarity of Design/Build projects. * Fire Alarm Design experience. *Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:* * Ability to lead electrical design on complex multi-discipline projects. * Ability to create and assemble a complete electrical construction documents independently. * Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, code compliance, and construction documentation practices. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. * Ability to mentor staff and provide technical leadership. * Understanding of quality control procedures and document review standards. * Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams. *Working Conditions & Physical Requirement:* * Travel to project sites, client meetings, and field locations is required. * Perform work in office, field, and active construction environments. * Perform site visits to assess electrical equipment, systems, controls, and construction progress. * Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights. * Must be able to walk active construction sites and access industrial, commercial, and project areas, including stairs, rooftops, mechanical/electrical rooms, and uneven terrain. * Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods during field work. * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of documents, tools, and equipment. * Must be able to work safely in environments with noise, dust, temperature variation, and moving construction equipment. * Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment appropriate for site conditions. * Must be able to sit at desk and work at a computer for extended periods. _The job description above is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities and minimum qualifications; specific job assignments, duties, education, experience, licenses/certifications, and environmental conditions will vary depending on the needs of the organization and the particular assignment.
