This full-time position is integral to supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department, focusing on building and maintaining cloud-based web applications that handle healthcare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in back-end and front-end development, particularly within healthcare or enterprise environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that improve healthcare data processing and delivery, directly impacting the lives of veterans and healthcare professionals. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with a Public Trust security clearance or the ability to obtain one, and should be comfortable working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on back-end technologies such as Java and/or NodeJS, and front-end frameworks like Angular. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs in healthcare or enterprise settings is essential. Familiarity with structured healthcare data formats, including EDI X.12 (837, 834, 277, etc.), is highly desirable. Candidates should possess hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, including services such as API Gateway, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch. Strong knowledge of Git/GitHub workflows, testing frameworks like Jest or JUnit, and Agile methodologies is also required. Additional desired skills include experience with healthcare payer systems, HIPAA compliance, containerization technologies, and C#/.Net back-end services for integration purposes.ResponsibilitiesBuild, support, and migrate a cloud-based web dashboard application that processes healthcare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions, ensuring high performance and reliability.Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs in Java and/or NodeJS to retrieve, transform, and serve structured healthcare data, including EDI records.Integrate with internal platform APIs, EDI processing pipelines, and data services to ensure seamless data flow and real-time transaction processing.Support and enhance an Angular-based dashboard front-end by consuming APIs, developing components, and ensuring accurate data presentation for business and clinical users.Collaborate with back-end engineers working in C#/.Net and AWS data engineers to define API contracts, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data delivery across services.Write clean, well-documented, and testable code while actively participating in code reviews to uphold quality standards.Perform comprehensive unit and integration testing to validate back-end services and API layers, ensuring robustness and data integrity.Support deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning of back-end services in a cloud environment, primarily AWS, to maintain system stability and scalability.Promote best software engineering practices within an Agile framework, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.Utilize Git and GitHub for version control, managing branches, pull requests, and collaborative development efforts to ensure code quality and team coordination.BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and professional growth.
