Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled ECAD Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing electrical and electronic system designs, including PCB layouts, schematics, and system integration for advanced electronic products. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, system design, and CAD tools, with experience in FPGA, SoC, and firmware development. The ECAD Design Engineer will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects within schedule and quality standards.
Duties
Design and develop detailed schematics and PCB layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks for electronic systems.
Create and validate FPGA and SystemVerilog designs for programmable logic devices.
Perform root cause analysis on electrical systems issues and troubleshoot hardware failures.
Develop system models using MATLAB, Simulink, or Python to simulate signal processing and system behavior.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers using Revit or MicroStation to integrate mechanical and electrical components.
Support manufacturing processes by designing surface mount technology (SMT) layouts and ensuring compliance with NEC standards.
Conduct soldering, surface mount assembly, and testing of prototypes using tools such as ohmmeters and vision inspection systems.
Write firmware in C++, Python, Perl, or scripting languages to support embedded systems development on ARM or Arduino platforms.
Assist in project scheduling, documentation, and technical reviews to ensure timely project delivery.
Participate in debugging hardware and firmware issues through systematic root cause analysis.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
Proven experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks.
Strong knowledge of FPGA development, SystemVerilog, ARM architecture, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling; experience with Signal Processing is desirable.
Hands-on experience with soldering (surface mount technology), firmware development, debugging tools (ohmmeters), and vision inspection systems.
Familiarity with electrical systems standards such as NEC; knowledge of manufacturing processes including surface mount technology (SMT).
Mechanical knowledge related to system design integration using Revit or MicroStation is advantageous.
Skills in scripting languages such as Python or Perl for automation tasks; experience with C++ is preferred.
Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex electrical or firmware issues; excellent problem-solving skills required.
