PLC Programmer
A privately owned engineering and automation firm is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to support and grow its automation, startup, and troubleshooting capabilities.
This role is for a true doer. Someone who can design, program, troubleshoot, and work directly with clients while helping build a scalable startup and commissioning function. Engineers in this business are trusted to own delivery, interact with clients, and identify opportunities to add value.
This is a long-term, direct hire role in a small, lean organization. Not a contract position and not a corporate EPC environment.
Responsibilities
Execute controls engineering work across greenfield and brownfield projects
PLC programming and system support, primarily Rockwell-based platforms
Support panel shop programming and factory testing prior to shipment
Lead and support site startups, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Develop and review engineering deliverables including:
Instrument datasheets
Control narratives and cause & effect documentation
Control system architecture and logic design
Coordinate closely with designers, drafters, and AutoCAD teams
Interface directly with client engineering and operations teams
Support multiple projects running concurrently
Identify and support follow-on work while on site with clients
Help define and improve startup and troubleshooting standards as the team grows
Required Background
Strong hands-on controls and automation experience
Proven PLC programming and field startup capability
Comfortable troubleshooting live systems in the field
Experience working directly with clients and operations teams
Oil & gas or industrial facilities experience preferred
Able to move between design, panel shop support, and field execution
Practical, accountable, and detail-oriented
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
