Architectural Engineer

*Architectural Metals Engineer* *Location:* Addison, IL (Onsite, Monday-Friday) *Compensation:* Approximately $150,000 (commensurate with experience) *About Specialty Construction, LLC* Specialty Construction, LLC is a leading ornamental and miscellaneous metal subcontractor serving the Chicagoland area and expanding throughout the Midwest. We specialize in complex Division 5 metal systems including canopies, monumental stairs, railings, architectural metal panels, column covers, glass wind screens, and custom fabrications utilizing steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze. Known for solving challenging construction problems and delivering high-quality results, we have contributed to major CTA station renovations, high-rise developments, airport terminals, healthcare facilities, and other landmark projects. *Position Summary* Specialty Construction is seeking an experienced *Architectural Metals Engineer* to provide design assist, value engineering, review of shop drawings, and support for the fabrication, and installation of complex ornamental and miscellaneous metal systems. This individual will play a key role in reviewing contract documents and developing engineered solutions for our miscellaneous and ornamental metal systems that meet design intent but can also be fabricated and installed efficiently in the field. The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural and architectural metal systems, enjoys solving complex design and constructability challenges, and can bridge the gap between the engineering, fabrication, and installation teams. *Key Responsibilities* * Review architectural, structural, and contract drawings and specifications to evaluate project requirements. * Design miscellaneous and ornamental metal systems, including: Railings, Monumental stairs, Canopies, Architectural metal panels, Column covers, Glass support systems, Custom decorative metal fabrications. * Develop structural connections, support framing, and anchorage details, and/or work with SE partners to develop ideal solutions. * Provide value engineering solutions that improve constructability, schedule, and cost efficiency. * Collaborate with detailing, project management, fabrication, and field installation teams. * Support the development and review of shop drawings, submittals, and fabrication drawings. * Resolve design challenges and field issues throughout the life of a project. * Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, general contractors, and consultants. * Assist in developing fabrication and erection strategies for complex projects. * Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, engineering standards, and project specifications. *Qualifications & Experience* * Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical discipline. * 8-10+ years of experience in structural metals, miscellaneous metals, ornamental metals, structural steel, architectural metals, specialty construction, or a related industry. * Experience engineering and detailing metal fabrication projects from concept through installation. * Strong understanding of structural connections, anchorage systems, metal fabrication methods, and field erection practices. * Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents and develop practical engineering solutions. * Experience performing constructability reviews and value engineering. * Proficiency with AutoCAD required. * Experience with 3D modeling software such as Tekla, SolidWorks, Revit, Advance Steel, Inventor, or similar platforms is strongly preferred. * Strong understanding of fabrication tolerances, material properties, and installation sequencing. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external project stakeholders. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced construction environment. *Gallagher's HR & Organizational effectiveness team provides expert guidance and hands-on support in HR, Recruiting, and Payroll to help organizations stay focused on achieving their strategic business goals.* Pay: $150,000.00 per year Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Application Question(s): * Do you have experience in metals?
