Position Summary: The Construction Surveyor (C.S.) is responsible for accurately providing line and grade layout for the pavement construction projects allowing for successful execution of contract work. The main focus of this position will be the operation of the GPS survey equipment and related technology/tools. Essential Functions: Obtaining & inputting necessary information into the GPS survey equipment to allow for the successful & accurate operation of that equipment. Setting line and grade – verification of subgrade elevations, Verification of any other work performed by another contractor. Plan information takeoffs, trouble shooting drainage problems, drainage designs, and layout for paving or curb and gutter stakes. Maintain stamina and ability to install stakes or lath as well as being capable of lifting 50 pounds or more. Creation of as-built plans and measurements of on-site quantities. Maintain records of surveys, stake installation, and daily tasks. Maintain positive relationships with customers, general contractors and engineering firms in order to expedite survey information and site layout accuracy. Proficient with computer programs (such as AutoCAD, word, excel etc.) Maintain company vehicle and survey equipment in a neat & orderly fashion. Maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Efficiently manage each day to maximize the amount of time available to execute all these duties. Assist PM’s in any other tasks necessary (could include but not limited to Site visits with crews, Proof Rolls, Traffic Control, On-site meetings & Safety Management.) Continuation of any training to stay current with necessary survey equipment, tools and programs. Paint out jobs for grading and paving crews, as needed Check sites for actual progress versus what GC / sub claims it to be. Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications: Construction industry experience required, asphalt or concrete industry preferred Technology proficient (Email, internet,) Valid driver’s license with good driving record Ability to read and scale site plans Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work 50-60 hours per week including occasional Saturdays (April-November) High attention to quality and workmanship Wolf Paving is an Equal Opportunity Employer!
