The role leads modernization of legacy tooling and release practices into Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), modern CI/CD pipelines, and standardized operational guardrails across development, QA, staging, Rescore, and production environments.Partnering closely with engineering, architecture, and security stakeholders, this position improves delivery speed, reliability, and compliance, with deep ownership of Amazon RDS/Aurora lifecycle management, production readiness, and database-aware release coordination for business‑critical services.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesCloud-Native Platform Engineering (AWS)Design and operate resilient AWS platform capabilities across all environments.Build secure, reusable cloud patterns for networking, compute, storage, identity, and observability aligned with enterprise standards.Migrate legacy and manual workflows to cloud-native, event-driven, and API-first automation.Serve as senior technical owner for platform standards, reference architectures, and complex cross-team delivery decisions.Infrastructure as Code & Environment ProvisioningOwn Infrastructure as Code strategy using Terraform (preferred) and/or AWS CloudFormation.Build reusable modules/templates for core platform and data services.Enforce immutable, repeatable environment provisioning through Git-based workflows and automated validation.Replace manual runbooks with codified infrastructure and operational logic.CI/CD & Release EngineeringDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI (Jenkins legacy support only).Implement standards for build, test, security scanning, artifact promotion, and deployment orchestration.Enable progressive delivery strategies (rolling, canary, blue-green) with automated rollback and health validation.Improve deployment speed, reliability, and change safety through standardized release controls and telemetry.AI-Assisted Engineering & Developer ProductivityUse AI coding assistants (notably GitHub Copilot) to accelerate modernization of infrastructure code, pipelines, and scripts.Establish guardrails for AI-assisted code generation, review, testing, and security validation.Identify and scale high‑value AI-assisted refactoring, documentation, and automation use cases.Containerization & Runtime OperationsBuild and operate containerized deployment patterns using Docker and AWS container platforms (ECS/EKS).Define runtime standards for configuration, secrets, scaling, resilience, and service discovery.Partner with application teams to modernize service packaging and runtime architecture.RDS, Database Reliability, & Data Platform OperationsOwn Amazon RDS/Aurora operations, lifecycle management, and production reliability.Lead database upgrades, patching, scaling, backups, restore testing, and performance tuning.Coordinate database-aware deployments, schema changes, environment refreshes, and data migrations.Define and automate observability, capacity, and recovery guardrails (RTO/RPO).Provide senior oversight for database risk, change sequencing, and production readiness.Observability, Incident Response, & SRE PracticesImplement monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing using CloudWatch and approved tooling.Define SLIs/SLOs and operational dashboards.Participate in on-call and incident response; lead root cause analysis and preventive remediation.Act as escalation point for high-severity platform, deployment, or database incidents.Security, Compliance, & Access GovernanceImplement least-privilege IAM, short-lived credentials, and policy-as-code controls.Integrate security and compliance checks into CI/CD and IaC workflows.Oversee certificate and secrets lifecycle management.Maintain audit readiness through logging, control evidence, and secure change management.Cross-Team Enablement & Continuous ImprovementCreate and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and operational playbooks.Mentor engineers on cloud-native, DevSecOps, and IaC best practices.Drive the platform modernization roadmap and tooling evolution with stakeholders.Desired ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).7+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Platform Engineering roles.5+ years of hands-on AWS production experience.5+ years designing CI/CD pipelines and release automation.Proven experience modernizing legacy tooling into cloud-native delivery.Demonstrated ownership of relational databases in production environments.Experience leading platform initiatives in regulated or highly controlled enterprises.Technical Skills – Strongly PreferredKubernetes operations in AWS (EKS).Policy-as-code and security automation (OPA, Checkov, tfsec, or equivalent).Service mesh and API gateway patterns.AI-enabled engineering practices within secure SDLC constraints.FinOps awareness (cost optimization, capacity planning).Experience in regulated industries (insurance, financial services, healthcare).Professional SkillsStrong systems thinking across infrastructure, application, and database layers.Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.High ownership mindset, strong documentation, and operational discipline.Comfort operating with senior-level autonomy and mentoring others.Certifications (Preferred)AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – ProfessionalAWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)HashiCorp Certified: Terraform AssociateKubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) or equivalent experienceRelocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance.
