We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.JOB SUMMARYThis position repairs and maintains the assigned machinery and mechanical equipment ensuring at all times that the company safety rules are followed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and ProceduresRegular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibilityPerforms preventive maintenance operations on machinery according to schedulesInstalls, rebuilds and repairs a wide variety of machines as directed by the Maintenance Manager/supervisorServices and maintains a limited range of building and production equipment following proceduresAnalyzes, detects, and determines the nature of the problem and provides input as to the extent of the repairs required. Troubleshoots to and selects materials needed for the repairs.Notifies Maintenance Manager of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions takenAssembles, replaces or refits parts as warrantedTear down and rebuild presses as needed to repair diesAssists with building repairsReplace and refit partsInstructs and provides technical assistance to lower level mechanics as requiredFollow and enforce company safety policies and procedures among the maintenance mechanics at all times.All other duties as requested or assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESIndustrial mechanical skillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance, instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures.Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, drill press, and other related industrial repair equipmentDemonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitudeGood communication skills and ability to read, speak, write English (bilingual Spanish helpful)Ability to observe, identify, deduce and troubleshoot equipment malfunctionsQuick learner and ability to work under minimal supervisionMath skills and computer skillsIndustrial electrical skills preferredEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEAssociates Degree and/or post-high school technical training highly desired, or equivalent experience2 + years of related experience required - in a manufacturing environment preferred2 + years tearing down and rebuilding presses2 + exp with tooling and diesESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee should possess the ability to:Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortableWithstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or outProlong standing or in stationary positionComplete repetitive movementsBend and/or twistLift/move/transport items up to 50 poundsAbility to move or traverse about the facilitiesAbility to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditionsWear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company.
