The program focuses on:Independent living skillsEmployment readiness through on-the-job and community-based trainingSocial, communication, and self-advocacy skillsCommunity participation and engagementStudents participate in both school-based instruction and community-based experiences, with opportunities to integrate with general education peers in PE, art, and other activities.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver instruction in functional academics, vocational training, and life skills aligned with IEP goals.Case manage students and their IEPsLead hybrid programming: 3 days of school-based instruction and 2 days of community-based learning.Facilitate community outings, vocational experiences, and real-world skill-building opportunities.Collaborate with paraprofessionals, school counselors, OTs, SLPs, BCBAs/RBTs, and families to support individualized learning.Community outreach for job skills training for studentsTrack, document, and monitor student progress using data-driven methods for IEP alignment.Develop, implement, and maintain engaging curricula and resources, including:Kitchen and cooking activitiesBudgeting and financial literacy exercisesMock job application and vocational readiness materialsVisual supports, checklists, and adaptive toolsSupport student social-emotional development through structured reflection, community engagement, and recreational activities.Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, updates, and invitations to community-based experiences.Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend growth or enhancements, including potential expansion to younger learners (grades 9 12).Hybrid / Community-Based LearningAble to drive a multipurpose van for community outingsQualificationsRequired:Dual CertificationSpecial Education certificationGeneral Education certification (appropriate grade level)Experience teaching functional life skills and/or transition programmingKnowledge of community-based instruction and vocational readiness practicesAbility to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teamsPreferred / Highly Valued:Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) endorsementAutism specialist experienceTraining in functional life skills curriculaBehavior management credentials (BCBA or equivalent)Job coaching or vocational training certificationsSkills & CompetenciesStrong classroom management and instructional skills for diverse learnersAbility to design and implement individualized, data-driven instructionEffective communication with students, families, and school teamsCreative problem-solving for both in-school and community-based learning opportunitiesCommitment to student independence, empowerment, and post-secondary successSpecial Education backgroundGeneral Education backgroundInterested candidates should submit:Cover letter addressing experience with transition-age studentsResume/CVReferences
