Job Location: Washington, DC location(s) (Metro Access). On‑Site 5 days/week.
Direct Hire: Term: through 31/12/2026, with a strong possibility of extension.
Pay Range: Depending on Experience.

Project Description:
The DevSecOps Architect will play a crucial role in developing and deploying an examiner workflow tool to replace and enhance a legacy system leveraging AWS GovCloud services for a large, highly regulated federal financial institution. This position requires a highly skilled professional who can integrate development, security, and operations practices while navigating the unique challenges of government cloud infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, particularly AWS GovCloud, and a deep understanding of security principles and compliance requirements in government IT environments. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient cloud infrastructure across multiple environments (development, testing, staging, production).
This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks, automating processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across teams.
US Citizenship is required for this position.
Qualification Requirements:
At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or a related field
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Proficiency in AWS services, particularly within the GovCloud environment
Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Grafana)
Understanding of networking concepts and implementation in cloud environments
Experience with identity and access management in cloud settings
Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
Experience with testing frameworks (unit testing, automated testing)
Leadership experience and ability to drive cross‑functional collaboration
Splunk experience is a plus
Experience working with Federal Agencies and NIST 800‑53 / FISMA standards is a plus
At least one of the following certifications or equivalent:
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
Docker or Kubernetes certification
GitLab Certified Git Associate
GitLab Certified CI/CD Associate
GitLab Certified Security Specialist
HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement DevOps strategy across the organization
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across development, testing, staging, and production environments
Manage Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines
Lead containerization and container orchestration initiatives
Design automation and orchestration frameworks to improve platform reliability
Identify and mitigate security risks; implement security hardening and compliance automation
Develop and enforce security policies aligned with federal compliance requirements (NIST 800‑53, FISMA)
Implement automated testing and test‑driven development practices
Research, evaluate, and recommend DevOps tools and technologies
Design and implement microservices architecture solutions
Collaborate cross‑functionally to drive continuous improvement and agile operations
Maintain documentation and drive process improvement initiatives
Optimize system reliability, scalability, and overall performance
