Duties Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications cables including fiber optic systems, copper wiring, and Ethernet cabling across various outdoor and indoor locations. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards to access elevated work areas. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify issues within fiber optic networks, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), and other IT infrastructure components. Perform telecommunications cable splicing—both fiber optic and copper—to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal network performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately execute installation or repair tasks. Conduct outdoor work in diverse weather conditions while adhering to safety protocols for telecommunications outside plant operations. Support technical troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing problems within fiber optic networks or telecommunication systems and implementing effective solutions promptly. Qualifications Proven experience in field service roles involving telecommunications or related construction activities. Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely following industry standards. Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, splicing techniques, and fiber splicing equipment. Familiarity with telecommunication testing tools, diagnostic devices, and interpreting technical drawings or schematics. Hands-on experience with telecommunications network cable installation including Ethernet, LAN, WAN, and telephony systems. Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and safety procedures for outdoor construction work. Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues using engineering troubleshooting methods; experience supporting IT infrastructure is a plus. Excellent manual dexterity with hand tools for cable termination, splicing, and installation tasks. Prior outdoor work experience in construction or telecommunications environments preferred. Strong technical proficiency with computer networking concepts including Ethernet cabling and network infrastructure setup. Join us to build the future of connectivity!
