Associate Cost Engineer

We’re looking for a Cost Engineer who brings analytical rigor, practical judgment, and a collaborative mindset to help project teams deliver complex transmission and infrastructure projects with confidence.In this role, you’ll be a trusted partner to Project Managers and cross-functional teams, providing credible cost forecasting, earned value analysis, and forward-looking insights that support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.What You’ll DoDevelop, maintain, and analyze project budgets, cost forecasts, and productivity plans for assigned capital projects or programsPerform earned value, trend, and variance analysis to identify changes in project performance and forecast outcomesReview contractor and field performance information to evaluate cost accuracy, productivity trends, and reporting credibilityProvide timely cost insights, forecast updates, and data-based recommendations to Project Managers and project teamsSupport management control planning, forecast development, and project performance reviews throughout the project lifecycleContribute to benchmarking, lessons learned, and estimate feedback loops that improve future cost performance and estimating accuracyParticipate in project reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional efforts that strengthen cost engineering practicesSupport ATC Ready incident response roles as assignedWhat You Bring – Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Business, or a related technical or science disciplineFive or more years of professional experience, including at least three years supporting construction, utility, engineering management, project management, project controls, cost engineering, or scheduling functionsExperience supporting electrical transmission, utility infrastructure, or large capital construction projects strongly preferredExperience developing, maintaining, or analyzing project cost forecasts, performance trends, or management control plans preferredWhat You Bring – Technical & Professional SkillsStrong understanding of construction cost control principles, including labor, equipment, materials, productivity, unit rates, and installed cost performanceWorking knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts, metrics, and reportingExperience with cost forecasting, trend analysis, estimate-at-completion thinking, and performance measurementAbility to benchmark estimated versus actual costs and identify cost drivers, performance issues, and emerging risksExperience reviewing contractor cost, productivity, and earned value information for reasonableness and alignment with field progressAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendationsStrong Excel skills; experience with project controls, ERP, or analytics tools preferredClear written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesThe targeted base pay for this position is $71,900 to $83,800 annually.* Base pay is one component of our comprehensive total rewards package which includes an annual incentive bonus, employer-sponsored pension plan, 401(k) match, HSA contribution, life & disability insurance, health care benefits, generous time off plans, flexible work arrangements, and much more.*The pay range is a general guideline.
