This customer-centered approach drives long-term relationships and a reliable reputation in the community.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Heating Air Conditioning Service Technician role based in East Brunswick, NJ. The technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and air conditioning systems, including performing routine and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, recommending appropriate repairs or replacements, and completing accurate service documentation. The role involves traveling to customer homes, explaining findings and options in clear, respectful language, and ensuring a clean, safe work area after each job. The technician will collaborate with dispatch and office staff to manage schedules, respond to emergency calls as needed, and uphold Gold Medal Service’s standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.Qualifications Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC systems, including diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues.Proficiency in maintenance & repair of residential heating and air conditioning equipment, including system start-ups and performance testing.Experience with preventive maintenance, such as seasonal tune-ups, filter changes, and system inspections to reduce breakdowns.Commitment to customer satisfaction, with the ability to communicate clearly, set expectations, and provide professional in-home service.Current EPA certification (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe) for safe handling of refrigerants.Relevant HVAC training or technical school education; state or local HVAC license/certifications are a plus.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel to customer locations within the service area.Capacity to work full-time, including some evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.Physical ability to lift equipment, work in attics, basements, and tight spaces, and safely use tools and ladders.
