Apply now for this opportunity at Carex!Carex is partnering with a biotech industry partner to hire a Histotechnologist II. This role will support a CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory by performing a variety of histology laboratory procedures used to produce tissue slides and support daily laboratory operations. Openings are available for the following schedules: Friday – Monday, 11:00am – 9:30pm and Saturday – Tuesday, 11:00am – 9:30pm. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.What You'll DoPerform routine histology procedures including sectioning, fixation, processing, embedding, and H&E staining for fresh frozen (FF) and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples according to SOPs. Label and document FFPE blocks, slides, microcentrifuge tubes, accessioned samples, and test requisition forms using laboratory systems and procedures. Prepare and process DNA and RNA extraction samples according to SOPs. Accession patient samples and enter data into laboratory information systems (LIS) and information management systems (IMS). Prepare FF tissue samples for tumor estimate procedures and routine processing activities. File and store slides and FFPE tissue blocks. Assist with quality review of incoming specimens. Perform microdissection of unstained slides according to pathologist markings. Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls for laboratory use. Perform and document equipment maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, and quality control activities. Maintain histology equipment and associated documentation. Monitor and process histology work queues while prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision. Assist with sample returns and inventory/material management activities. Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely and high-quality specimen processing. Provide technical assistance and training support to team members as needed. Uphold laboratory quality standards, safety procedures, and Quality Management System requirements. Maintain regular attendance and support operational needs including overtime, weekends, and schedule flexibility when needed. What You'll Bring One of the following:Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program and 3+ years of laboratory experience (including one year counted from program completion), OR High School diploma and 5+ years of laboratory experience, OR Associate Degree in a scientific field and 3+ years of laboratory experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field and 1+ years of laboratory experience. Experience performing histology laboratory procedures in a regulated laboratory environment. Basic computer skills including internet navigation and email usage. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and rapidly adapt to changing workflows. High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use laboratory equipment including microscopes, microtomes, pipettes, blades, and strainers for extended periods. Ability to work with hazardous materials and comply with PPE requirements. Ability to stand, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks as required. Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
