Senior Cost Accountant

Senior Cost AccountantWe are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant with strong data entry skills to support financial tracking and reporting for construction projects. This role is responsible for accurately recording job costs, maintaining financial data integrity, and assisting in cost analysis to ensure projects stay within budget. The ideal candidate understands construction accounting principles, job costing, and thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment.Cost Accounting DutiesTrack and analyze project costs, including labor, materials and subcontractor expensesMaintain job cost ledgers and ensure accurate allocation of expenses to specific projectsAssist in preparing project cost reports, variance analyses, and budget comparisonsMonitor committed costs vs. actual costs and identify discrepanciesSupport month-end and year-end closing processes related to project accountingWork with project managers to review budgets and cost forecastsFinancial RecordsInput and update job cost data in accounting or ERP systemsEnsure all financial transactions are coded correctly to jobs, cost codes, and general ledger accountsMaintain organized digital records of financial documentsVerify data accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptlyCompliance & ReportingEnsure compliance with company policies and construction accounting standardsAssist with audits by providing accurate financial data and documentationGenerate routine and ad hoc financial reports for managementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in constructionStrong understanding of job costing and construction accounting practicesExperience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300/100 or similar ERP systems)Proficiency in Microsoft ExcelKey SkillsExceptional attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong numerical and analytical abilitiesAbility to manage large volumes of data efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects running simultaneouslyTime management and ability to meet deadlines in a project-driven environmentEffective communication with project managers and finance teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience working for a construction company or contractorFamiliarity with cost codes, AIA billing, and work-in-progress (WIP) reportingBenefitsHealth, Dental and Vision InsurancesDisability InsurancesSupplemental Life InsurancesIdentity Theft Protection401k with Company Profit SharingPaid Time Off and HolidayAMAZING HOTELS DISCOUNTSEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
