Property Accountant
Quest Group is actively recruiting for a Property Accountant for a solid & stable real estate Investment & Development firm. This role supports property operations, asset management, development, and corporate accounting teams by ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, budget oversight, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate has experience in commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, or development-focused real estate environments and possesses strong analytical and organizational skills.Key ResponsibilitieProperty AccountingMaintain the general ledger for an assigned portfolio of properties and development projectsPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedulesRecord and reconcile cash activity, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and debt transactionsPerform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliationsReview property operating results and investigate variances from budget and prior periodsEnsure accurate allocation of expenses among properties, entities, and projectsCAM reconciliationFinancial ReportingPrepare monthly property financial packages for management, lenders, investors, and joint venture partnerAssist with preparation of consolidated financial reports and management reporting packageSupport annual audits, lender reporting requirements, and tax return preparation by providing schedules and documentationMaintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policiesBudgeting and ForecastingAssist property managers and asset managers in preparing annual operating budgets and periodic forecastsMonitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysisTrack capital expenditures and development costs against approved budgeDevelopment & Construction AccountingMonitor development and construction project costs, contracts, and draw requestsProcess construction pay applications and maintain project cost tracking reportsAssist with lender draw submissions and documentation requirementsReconcile construction loan activity and capitalized project costsCash ManagementReview and process vendor invoices and paymentsMonitor cash balances and assist with cash management activitiesCoordinate with property management teams regarding tenant billings, collections, and operating expense recoveriesCompliance & Internal ControlsEnsure adherence to internal controls and accounting proceduresMaintain organized financial records and supporting documentationAssist with entity setup, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions as neREQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredExperience2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, real estate investment, or developmentExperience with commercial, multifamily, industrial, office, retail, or mixed-use properties preferredExperience with construction or development accounting is a plus.Technical SkillsStrong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principlesProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysisExperience with property accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, or similar platforms preferred. Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
