As we continue to expand our portfolio of Life Science and Office Tenant Improvement projects across the Bay Area, we are looking for a talented Cost Engineer to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented construction professional who enjoys collaborating with project teams, analyzing project costs, and helping ensure successful project outcomes from preconstruction through completion.
What You'll Do
As a Cost Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting project planning, cost control, forecasting, and financial performance. We will rely on your expertise to provide accurate reporting, identify potential risks, and help maintain budget accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop, track, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports for Life Science and Office Tenant Improvement projects.
Monitor project expenditures and commitments to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
Analyze project cost trends and identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
Assist project teams with budget management, change order tracking, and financial reporting.
Prepare and maintain cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and earned value analysis.
Collaborate with estimators and preconstruction teams to support budgeting and project planning efforts.
Review subcontractor contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and change requests for cost accuracy and compliance.
Support monthly project reviews and executive reporting.
Maintain cost databases and historical project cost information to improve future estimating accuracy.
Work closely with project managers, superintendents, accounting teams, and executive leadership to ensure financial transparency and project success.
Assist in developing and improving cost control processes, procedures, and reporting tools.
What We're Looking For
3+ years of experience in construction cost engineering, project controls, estimating, project management, or a related field.
Experience supporting Life Science, laboratory, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or Office Tenant Improvement construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction budgets, forecasting, cost reporting, and financial controls.
Knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, and building systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, CMiC, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
