P&C Liability SupervisorDepartment: Claims Administration & AdjustingEmployment Type: Permanent - Full TimeLocation: Baltimore, MDReporting To: Chris LewisCompensation: $75,000 - $88,400 / yearDescriptionWe are seeking an experienced P&C Liability Supervisor to serve as the primary managerial liaison between Davies (as the Third-Party Administrator) and the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Transit Insurance Group (TIG).This role is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day claims operations, supervising TPA claims staff, ensuring strict compliance with MTA/TIG claims handling guidelines, and serving as the primary point of contact for MTA Claims Management.During the transition period, the Project Manager will be the first Davies employee trained within the MTA TIG Department and will subsequently assume the Senior Claims Supervisor role, directly supervising all assigned TPA staff operating under the MTA TIG contract.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary liaison between Davies and MTA TIG Claims ManagementSupervise and manage all Davies TPA claims staff assigned to the MTA TIG operationCertify and confirm that all TPA staff have completed required background checks, passed the Claims Interview Test, and meet all MTA hiring and retention requirements prior to resume submissionEnsure consistent compliance with MTA/TIG Claims Manual policies, procedures, and service standardsMaintain operational readiness, audit preparedness, and contractual compliance at all timesProvide effective supervision of claims adjusting staff, including attendance management, performance management, disciplinary actions, retraining, professional development, and termination processesServe as the escalation point for all staffing issuesProvide clear, detailed direction and expectations to adjusting staffInitiate contact with appropriate parties within 48 business hours of assignmentObtain recorded or written statements, secure police, fire, and government agency documentation, identify and interview witnesses, and gather index information on injured partiesSecure and evaluate all medical documentation and treatment; prepare detailed claim summaries and status reports; negotiate and settle claims based on documented liability and damages; obtain vehicle appraisals and MTA estimates; identify subrogation potential; conduct or coordinate accident scene investigations as necessaryConfirm completion of daily diary entries and serious exposure reports at staff and supervisory levelsEnsure adjusters maintain an active caseload of 150–175 claims through effective diary managementMonitor and confirm proper reserving practices and ongoing reserve reviewsEnsure staff use only MTA-approved vendors and contractors, with written MTA authorizationCoordinate with MTA Defense Counsel to provide investigative documentation, assist with litigation preparation, and appear in court or hearings as requiredProvide enhanced oversight for high-exposure, sensitive, or serious accident claims at MTA's directionUpon completion of MTA TIG training, provide initial and ongoing training to Davies staff on MTA Insurance Claims Management systems and Microsoft Office toolsSupport ongoing system adoption, compliance, and reporting accuracySkills, Knowledge & ExpertiseBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityMinimum 8 years of claims experience, with emphasis on general liability, automobile liability, or bodily injury claimsMinimum 5 years of supervisory or management experienceExtensive knowledge of Maryland Motor Vehicle Regulations, Maryland tort and negligence law, and claims investigation, evaluation, and resolution practicesProven experience with litigation management and defense strategyDemonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, and lead claims professionalsEqual Employment Opportunity & Legal NoticesWe are committed to equal opportunity employment and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or any other protected status.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision plans401(k) plan with employer matchingTime-off policies, including Discretionary Time Off (DTO) for exempt employees and Paid Time Off (PTO) for non-exempt employeesPaid holidaysLife insurance and short-term and long-term disability coverageJ-18808-Ljbffr
