301-271-7313 Fax: 301-271-2155 HELP WANTED TOWN OF THURMONT STREETS & PARKS DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN Scope of work – This full-time position is considered an essential employee and reports to the Streets & Parks Department Superintendent. Critical duties include: All aspects of street repairs and maintenance; repairs and maintenance of sidewalks; street sign repairs and installation; General park maintenance and repairs, playground inspections and maintenance, athletic field maintenance, trail and path maintenance, litter pick up, tree maintenance; Minor construction tasks including concrete work, painting, carpentry, and building maintenance; General landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, tree planting and care, flower bed maintenance; Equipment operation to include: backhoe, street sweeper, skid loader, mowers, dump trucks, snow plows, chain saws, and other maintenance equipment; Provide support for town sponsored special events and activities; Assisting other Public Works Departments as needed; Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent education; ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and work outside in all weather conditions. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL license within twelve (12) months of employment. This position is required to work an alternating weekend schedule and must be available for after-hours emergencies including snow removal operations Note: Preference may be given to applicants who already possess a Class B CDL or higher. Work Schedule: 7AM – 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, with alternating weekend schedule and on call for after hours emergencies Salary Range: $21 to $23 per hour starting salary, dependent upon experience.
