Business Analyst
Our client, a large well established, global investment firm is seeking a Business Analyst to join their strategic team in NYC at the intersection of real estate, technology, and data. This is not a traditional BA role-analysts act as problem solvers, process architects, and digital enablers, helping shape the tools and systems that power decision-making across the firm.We're specifically looking for candidates with a strong foundation in commercial real estate-whether through investment, asset management, operations, or data analytics. Your domain expertise will be key to understanding the nuances of our workflows, identifying high-impact opportunities, and ensuring that technology solutions align with the realities of the industry.In this role, you'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions-transforming complex workflows and fragmented data into intelligent automations, intuitive reports, and scalable insights. Your work will directly accelerate operational efficiency, improve data clarity, and enhance strategic decision-making across the organization.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTranslate Requirements - Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, challenge, and prioritize business needs. Document functional specs, data models, and acceptance criteria that development teams can implement with confidence.Map & Redesign Processes - Analyze and document current-state workflows, quantify inefficiencies, and co-create future-state designs that streamline operations, eliminate manual steps, and reduce data hand-offs.Deliver Automations - Develop or coordinate automation workflows using Power Automate and APIs to transform repetitive tasks into efficient, error-resistant processes.Develop Power BI Solutions - Build semantic models, DAX and Power Query logic, and actionable visualizations. Leverage user feedback to iterate and continuously improve reporting clarity and impact.Ensure Data Consistency & Clarity - Cross-reference findings with data dictionaries and definitions to ensure consistency and shared understanding across reports, systems, and stakeholders.Standardize and Optimize Reporting - Review and analyze existing reports to uncover inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for standardization.Guide on Technology & Data Architecture - Recommend optimal approaches for database structures, API integrations, and BI tooling, balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability.Manage Projects & Change - Coordinate project timelines and deliverables while supporting adoption through stakeholder engagement, UAT, documentation (SOPs, quick-start guides), and user coaching.QUALIFICATIONSCPA, CFA, CCIM or other relevant certifications are desirable though not requiredSQL or Business Intelligence experience (DAX, Power Query) and/or certifications are desirable though not requiredPower Automate or other RPA platformsREST API integration basicsProcess mapping (Miro, Lucidchart, Visio)Agile project coordination and change enablementData governance alignment and business glossary usage EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEThe ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, mathematics, economics, information systems or computer science.3-5+ years' relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience are desirable though not required.
