Quality EngineerDirect hire with excellent benefitsTravel: Minimal; occasional supplier visits or auditsSummaryThe Quality Assurance Engineer is a hands-on role supporting quality execution in a steel fabrication manufacturing environment. This position works directly on the production floor, partnering with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to ensure welding, coating, and product quality requirements are met. This role balances production pace with compliance and is best suited for someone who enjoys solving problems in real time on the shop floor.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain and execute the facility Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 standardsMaintain records and documentation including MTRs, COCs, and customer-required certificationsManage calibration and testing programs for measuring and inspection equipmentSupport supplier qualification, audits, and resolution of supplier quality issuesAssist purchasing with evaluation and onboarding of new suppliersOversee incoming material inspections and maintain inspection programsManage product quality assurance programs and approve product releaseDevelop and support method sheets outlining manufacturing procedures and process controlsPerform in-process inspections including dimensional, weld, and coating inspectionsConduct or coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) and maintain inspection recordsOversee product testing, audits, and inspection activitiesCoordinate off-site testing including weld procedures, qualifications, and customer-required testingManage ISIR requirements and submissions in accordance with company policySupport customer certification and inspection activities, including documentation and releaseInterface with customer representatives regarding quality requirementsAssist in training and certification of weldersCollaborate with supervisors, operations leadership, and cross-functional teams on quality issuesSupport continuous improvement initiatives and additional quality-related responsibilitiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel fabricationWorking knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing quality systems requiredHands-on experience in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of arc welding processes for carbon, stainless, and alloy materialsFamiliarity with liquid and powder coating processesExperience with inspection methods including dimensional checks and NDTStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
