Digital Content Design Intern

The Baltimore Sun is seeking a Digital Content Design Intern to join our Marketing team this summer. This part-time role is a great opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with flexible scheduling. You will play a key role in bringing our brand to life through compelling visual content across digital and print platforms.In this position, you will contribute to meaningful projects, participate in cross-functional collaboration, and gain valuable exposure to how a media organization operates. This is an opportunity to build your portfolio, sharpen your skills, and learn alongside experienced professionals in a supportive, high-energy environment.Essential FunctionsDesign and produce creative assets for marketing campaigns, including email, social media, landing pages, and digital display adsSupport the creation of print materials, including flyers, promotional pieces, and sales collateralDevelop graphics for social media, print publications, website content, and podcastsAssist with advertising client creative and branded content projectsCollaborate with marketing, newsroom, and advertising teams to bring ideas to lifeParticipate in team meetings and contribute creative concepts and feedbackEnsure all creative aligns with brand guidelines and campaign objectivesManage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentEducation and Experience RequirementsCurrently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related fieldStrong design skills with a portfolio showcasing digital and/or print workProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required; After Effects or Premiere is a plus)Basic understanding of layout, typography, color, and branding principlesAbility to take direction and incorporate feedbackStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsComfortable working both independently and collaborativelyInterest in media, journalism, communications or marketing is a plus but not requiredThis is a part-time internship (20–30 hours per week)What You'll GainHands-on experience creating real-world marketing and media assetsExposure to multiple teams across a dynamic media organizationOpportunity to contribute to impactful campaigns and projectsProfessional development and mentorship from experienced team membersPortfolio-building work that demonstrates a wide range of skillsSalary Range: $19/hour Applicants must submit a digital portfolio of relevant design work as part of their application.
