Position: Senior Technical Solutions EngineerLocation: Dallas, TX | Boston, MA | Raleigh, NCSchedule: Hybrid, 3 days/week onsiteHours: Full-time, 40 hours/weekContract: Contract opportunity with potential conversion to client FTEStart Date: TBDPosition Overview:Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Solutions Engineer to join its Workbench Solutions Engineering team. This is a senior, hands-on technical position combining software engineering, cloud architecture, platform engineering, and customer-facing technical consulting.The Senior Technical Solutions Engineer will partner with biomedical researchers, data scientists, investigators, data stewards, and technical teams to design and implement secure, scalable solutions supporting biomedical research.This individual will own complex technical problems from discovery through implementation, developing production-quality software, designing cloud environments, building integrations and data workflows, and working directly with customers to solve challenging technical problems.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain production-quality software and technical solutions.Develop primarily in Python while utilizing additional programming languages as needed.Design scalable software and cloud architectures.Build and support solutions across both GCP and AWS.Design and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Work with Docker, containerized applications, CI/CD pipelines, IAM, networking, and cloud security.Partner directly with customers to understand technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.Troubleshoot complex software, infrastructure, integration, and cloud issues.Own technical projects from initial discovery through design, development, implementation, and support.Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.Manage multiple technical initiatives independently.Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and solution planning.Required Qualifications8+ years of production software engineering experience.Expert-level Python development experience.Proficiency in at least one additional programming language.Strong software architecture, object-oriented design, and system design experience.Hands-on experience with both GCP and AWS.Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Experience with Docker and containerized environments.Strong understanding of IAM, cloud security, and networking.Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.Strong production coding, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.Experience working directly with customers or technical stakeholders.Ability to independently own ambiguous and complex technical problems.Strong communication, organization, and project-management skills.Ability to work 40 hours per week and onsite three days per week in Dallas, Boston, or Raleigh.Ability to travel occasionally.Must be eligible for future FTE conversion without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.Preferred QualificationsKubernetes.BigQuery.Large-scale data processing and data pipelines.Azure.FHIR or OMOP.Healthcare, life sciences, or biomedical research experience.Technical leadership or mentorship.Architecture/design review experience.Open-source contributions or substantial personal software projects.EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
